Black Collar Consulting provides numerous executive services, all of which pertain to Joshua van Asakinda’s expertise in tribal psychology and evolutionary psychology. Whatever your needs, Black Collar Consulting has it.

Leadership Psychology

Picture
Leading the way is about more than just seeing the path forward. It’s about conviction; it’s about temperament. Black Collar Consulting can help your C-suite develop themselves as leaders and as strategists in order to build resilient teams and mission-oriented companies.

Tribal Dynamics

Joshua van Asakinda’s Tribe: I/O Protocol is a radical departure from the typical Agile-fare. So in addition to leadership skills, we can teach your C-suite how to structure their companies more effectively. Because, ultimately, information and organization go hand in hand; misalignment between informational structures and organizational structures can be costly, especially for startups.

Strategic Problem-solving

Entrepreneurship is volatile. High risk, high reward. Sometimes we need help navigating a particularly difficult period. We need new strategies; we need new perspectives. Black Collar Consulting can teach your C-suite how to solve problems effectively, how to think out of the box in order to gain an advantage. This in turn increases your chance of success, which is our mission, after all.

Tribe: I/O

Tribe: I/O (Information / Organization) was created by Joshua van Asakinda (link in footer). It is a deceptively simple idea: We are tribal creatures, and the underlying mechanisms of human behavior are tribal mechanisms. When we ignore that- as we often do in the the modern world and in the world of business-, we damage trust, which makes relationships impossible. So the Tribe: I/O protocol is the answer to this question: How do we create that sense of being on a mission together, of fighting together, of bleeding together, of sacrificing and sharing in the spoils of victory together? Through tribal psychology, exhibited all across the business landscape- its leadership, information, and organization.

Leadership

Picture
We can only lead from in front. And in the end, our people follow our leader- good or bad. Leadership is more than clever slogans and wall-hung inspirational quotes; leadership is about authenticity, clarity of vision, and the willingness to sacrifice ourselves for others. We can help you to develop the skills necessary to be a leader, not just another paper tiger with a big desk.

Information

Picture
We are mission oriented, and that requires accurate information. Think of this as military intelligence but for tech sector start-ups. Because the organizations that succeed are typically those with a clearer vision of the field, their allies, their enemies, and their objectives. We can help you to stay true to your purpose, come whatever may, through black swans and Acts of God.

Organization

Picture
We are not interested in clichés and platitudes. In the end, organization matters because organizational inefficiency wastes time, money, and resources: Bureaucracy is often wasteful; decentralization is often wasteful. Neither is perfect. What we need is a clear, simple, organic hierarchy, with strong leadership, clear lines of authority, and an environment of individual empowerment. We can help you to structure your organization so that your people can focus on doing what they need to do to succeed.

“There is a great deal of talk about loyalty from the bottom to the top. Loyalty from the top to the bottom is even more necessary and much less prevalent. One of the most frequently noted characteristics of great men who have remained great is loyalty to their subordinates.”

~ George S. Patton ~

Mission-driven Relationships

Relationships are the foundation of business, and we pride ourselves on the quality of our client relationships. We never expect a one-and-done contracting process. Entrepreneurship is hard, and it takes time and trust to do it right. And so we take our time; we never pressure our clients.

Your success is our success; your failure is our failure.

This is your business. And it deserves a long-term strategy, a mission-driven strategy. Everyone wants everything, and we all want it now, but that kind of mindset increases risk and volatility. It causes crashes; it drives businesses to bankruptcy. But we believe business can be done differently.

Patiently.

Strategically.

Methodically.

By being partners, and by being invested not just in the signing of the contract but also in your long-term success as an individual and as an organization.

About the Founder

Picture
Joshua van Asakinda holds a Master of Arts in psychology from American Military University and a Bachelor of Science in psychology with a minor in philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh. As a Buddhist and lifelong martial artist, he approaches psychology from a very different perspective. Over the course of his academic training, he was focused on questions of consciousness, but this gave way eventually to an interest in tribal / evolutionary psychology as it pertains to teams, crises, and leadership. And so eventually, he found himself working in the most unexpected of places- in the tech sector among engineers and entrepreneurs. Now he has decided to dedicate himself to the revitalization of his city and region, and to help the blue collar workers he knew and loved growing up to build better, stronger teams with better, stronger leadership. Fortunately, he has developed a strategy for how to accomplish this, which he calls Tribe: I/O. For more information on Tribe: I/O and his theory of psychology- not to mention his blogs and books-, please feel free to click the link below.
